Ph.D., Aalborg University, 2001
Flemming Christensen was born in 1969 in Horsens, Denmark. From 1988 to 1993 he studied electrical engineering and acoustics at Aalborg University. He received his M.Sc.E.E. degree in 1993 with specialization in acoustics. Since that he has been working as a researcher and teacher at the Department of Acoustics with teaching responsibilities at all levels in the M.Sc.E.E. programme.
From 1993 to 94 he was employed as a researcher in the company Perceptive Acoustics A/S - a research company funded by Brüel & Kjær and housed by Aalborg University. Flemming was doing research in the area of binaural technology focussing on artificial head design. From 1994 to 1997 he worked on 2 research projects in cooperation with the hearing aid manufacturer GN Danavox. The research dealt with audiological measurements and directivity of hearing aids. From 1997 Flemming joined the work of planning and establishing a research project funded by the Danish National Centre for IT Research and done in cooperation with the companies AM Multimedia and TC electronic. Flemming worked as a researcher and project coordinator in the project from 1997 to the end of 99. The work dealt with different aspects of binaural technique - recording and playback as well as binaural synthesis. This line of research was carried on in 2000 in a research framework programme. During this year Flemming wrote a Ph.D thesis based on his previous work on binaural technique. The thesis called "Binaural technique - with special emphasis on recording and playback" was submitted to the faculty of engineering and science at Aalborg University. Flemming defended the work and received the degree in 2001. Since autumn 2000 Flemming has been working as an assistant professor.
Research fieldsBinaural technology, dummy head construction, audiological measurements.
